Warrior Battalion assists with Memorial Day Ceremony

On May 26th, 2022, the Wiesbaden Warrior Battalion assisted in the USAREURAF Memorial Day ceremony, the occasion was held outside in Veterans’ park on Clay Kaserne.

Chaplain Meyer opened the event with a prayer, thanking the soldiers who have passed by giving their lives to their country. As well as recognizing Gold Star Families and thanking future soldiers.

The Warrior Battalion Color Guard, consisting of Cadets Henry Saint, Elaina Colon, Emily Wiggins, and Isabella Garrett, presented the American, German, and USAREUR flags. Major General Wickman, had the honor of speaking after the prayer. He talked about the importance of Memorial Day and why we should celebrate it. He also recognized the valor being displayed currently on the battlefield in Ukraine, while expressing hope for peace in the future.

The Wreath, which symbolized all the passed servicemembers, was laid by the Cadet Battalion Commander, Cadet LTC Kasey Jacobs, and Cadet Command Sergeant Major John Dacus. After the wreath was laid, the band concluded the ceremony with TAPS. The Color Guard then retired the Colors.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Ring said “These days, Memorial Days make me feel the same. They’re all sad. I mean, I miss my friends.”
