FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Concordia Lutheran High School’s JROTC Robotics team took home the Excellence Award for the second year in a row at the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championships. This is the top award at the competition.
"Back-to-back JROTC VEX World Championships feels amazing,” said junior Ayden Doan. “Our hard work and innovation have proven to be top in the world, and it feels amazing to see that pay off.”
The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX Robotics competition. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a high-quality robotics program. The competition was held in Texas last week. The judges evaluated the students and their robots on their skills and knowledge of engineering.
“Being at the largest robotics competition in the world was truly amazing. We are really just a group of motivated kids who are good at building, programming, and organization,”said sophomore Lawson Fairchild.
The team was also the recipient of the Innovate Award. The Innovate Award is presented to a team with the most effective and efficient design process, a top contender for the Design Award. The judges evaluated their engineering notebook, demonstrated management of time, talent, and materials, their effective game strategy and robot design, understanding and explanation of the engineering design process, and how they worked together to develop their robot.
