WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Francis Lewis High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps’ (JROTC) Cadets competed at Catholic University of America for the converted price of been once again recognized as the number one team in the country to include Cadets from all over overseas military stations with JROTC programs. Both teams, academic and leadership national team participated in round one and two to qualify to attend the championship round in Washington, DC from June 21, 2019 to June 25, 2019. We started with over 3000 teams participating in round one in the fall of 2018 and finally, after round two was completed, we qualified to compete in Washington for the final round of competition.
Cadet LTC Rohit Matthew Shinh, Cadet Major Gregory Steward, Cadet Captain Syed Abbas and Cadet Sergeant Alvin Ma, we have demonstrated selfless service, dedication and attention to detail by spending numerous amount of hours during weekends, holidays, school breaks, summer and after school preparing for this prestigious event. This journey started in our freshman year. We’ve participated in league and brigade competition furthermore, we compete again each other to be selected as the team representing our great patriot battalion in Fresh Meadows, New York. Our team has a history of doing well at JLAB competitions. We were 2017 champions and last year we placed second place missing first place by a mere .03 points. We work hard collectively because we understand that winning is not everything but we must give 300 percent of ourselves in everything we do. This mental state of mind in our team members make each and every one of us mentally strong and focus on our main goal to compete at higher level possible. We win with humility and lose with humbleness. The army instructors in Francis Lewis High School JROTC are truly dedicated to support our efforts every day of the year.
