JROTC Resident Instructor Certification Course Outcomes

JSOCC Certification (Basic) Course

The purpose of the Basic (resident) certification course is to provide new Army JROTC instructors with the basic skill necessary to operate within the Secondary School Setting.

As a group, instructors will complete exercises that demonstrate their ability to:

  • identify the legal standards associated with teaching in a High School
  • examine effective classroom management skills
  • effectively use the Curriculum and Curriculum Manager
  • teach a lesson using the 4-phase lesson plan
  • perform administrative functions in JUMS
  • satisfactorily complete performance evaluations

Recertification (Advanced) Course

The Recertification Course is designed to engage instructors in higher order thinking exercises that demonstrate their mastery of teaching the JROTC curriculum in a diverse market.

As a group, instructors will complete performance based exercises that demonstrate their ability to:

  • effectively use the Curriculum and Curriculum Manager
  • utilize the Curriculum Manager to develop a plan of action to improve Cadets Social and Emotional Intelligence
  • develop a crosswalk of the Art and Science of Teaching by using “Teach like a Champion” and “Professional Practices”
  • perform administrative functions in JUMS
  • discuss courses of action to mitigate inappropriate student/instructor relationships
  • satisfactorily complete all course evaluations
